Project Lead the Way

Project Lead the Way

Thanks to generous donors from the “Bids for Kids” segment of our annual auction in 2021, St. Gabriel was able to implement a new STEM curriculum called Project Lead The Way in 2021.

Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is an educational pathway and gateway in applied computer science, engineering, and biomedical science that will provide hands-on learning opportunities for our St. Gabriel Parish Students.

This curriculum is a research-supported learning approach that will empower our students to discover and explore interests, imagine and design solutions to real-world challenges, and become independent, confident problem solvers.

Research demonstrates that PLTW students outperform their peers in school, are better prepared for post-secondary studies, and are more likely to consider careers as scientists, technology experts, engineers, mathematicians, healthcare providers, and researchers compared to their non-Project Lead the Way peers.

Beginning with our K4 students all the way through middle school, our students will receive in-demand transportable skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, creative thinking, collaboration, and communication. Skills that will provide them with the confidence they need to thrive in their chosen high schools, colleges, careers, and beyond.
