Proverbs 22:6 - Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.

As a parent of three children, two daughters and one son who graduated from St. Gabriel Parish School, I have first-hand experience about the amazing education children receive at our school. More than ten years ago, I was asked to further my commitment to our school through teaching our youngest students here at St. Gabriel School in 4K. After receiving my degree in Early Childhood Education, working in the public school system, and then becoming a parent, the commitment and dedication of the teachers and staff of our school made the decision very easy to join the ranks of the best teachers I know. After teaching 4K for two years, I “moved up” to our 5K classroom.

Teaching Kindergarten is one of the greatest jobs anyone could ask for! Watching the children come into the classroom on the first day of school and growing before my eyes all year long is truly a remarkable experience. The sense of anticipation and curiosity every child possesses is such a miracle to witness. Through hands-on activities and experiences, I watch the children grow into self-confident learners. Every child is a unique individual, and it is so much fun to watch that individuality come through during small and large group interactions in my classroom. It is a great pleasure to plan lessons around these individual characteristics!

The philosophy of my classroom is that learning is fun, and it is certainly not quiet! Whether we are dancing to music like wild animals or singing songs about the alphabet with hand motions, we are constantly on the move. The smiles and laughter of my students are thoroughly contagious. It is always a joy to come to school, where the students’ gusto and zest for learning new things are endless! I feel wonderfully blessed to teach in such a faith-filled and family-oriented school where Jesus is alive every day in our play, academics, and service to others.
