Get to know Mrs. Kohls

My pathway to teaching was less traditional than most other teachers. After graduating from college, I worked in the property and casualty insurance industry for 14 years, where I met my future husband, Keith. We were married on April 8, 2000, and over the course of the next ten years had four children - Tim, Alex, Rachel, and Ryan. I was blessed to be able to leave my job in insurance to be a "stay at home mom" while my children were young. The joke was on me, as we did not "stay at home" very much! Instead, we spent our days at the park, or the zoo, or the beach, or the baseball fields, or many other places that allowed us to learn, grow, and have fun together. I feel so fortunate to have been able to share that time with my children.

After my youngest child entered school, I obtained my substitute teaching license and started substitute teaching at the local school my children attended. That eventually led us to St.Gabriel, where my youngest two children (Rachel and Ryan) eventually enrolled and graduated from. In 2017, I became an aide in the K4 classroom in addition to continuing to substitute teach at all grade levels. In 2022, I received my Elementary and Middle School Teaching License and became the RtI Teacher at St. Gabriel.

My family is actively involved at St. Gabriel Parish. We enjoy participating in many of the parish and school activities such as the flea market, auction, athletics, bible study groups, and youth group activities. I appreciate all of the opportunities that the parish and school provide us to meet new people, engage in fellowship, enrich our faith, and share our talents.

I am thankful for all that I have been blessed with in my life, and I try every day to share those blessings with others. I can't think of a better place to do that than at St. Gabriel Catholic Parish School. I feel so fortunate to be teaching here, and I feel that this truly is my calling. Thank you for trusting us with your children. We work hard every day to give them the very best that we can, as we teach them academics as well as set an example of how to Proclaim the Word, Form Disciples, Live a Sacramental Life.
